Abstract

This article explores anewdiagnosisin the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (5th ed.)-disruptivemooddysregulationdisorder(DMDD). Frequent comorbidities of DMDD include oppositional defiantdisorderand attention-deficit/hyperactivitydisorder. The evolution of DMDD and how this diagnostic category may remedy an overdiagnosis of pediatric bipolardisorderare discussed.
