The request to hire form should only be completed after the official recruitment process has ended and a candidate has been selected for consideration. The information on the Request to Hire form is completed by the hiring PI/PD and then routed to the Department Chair (if applicable) for approval. For ORS Grant/Contract hires this form is then routed to the Director of Grants and Contracts for review to insure the proposed salary amount is within budget. This form is then routed to the Personnel Generalist for final review, approval, and processing.
The Personnel Generalist uses this form to generate a hire letter that is issued by the Dean of the School. The letter is submitted to the Dean along with the Request to Hire form, candidate’s application, and position posting announcement for review and approval. Once the Dean has reviewed and approved the hire letter it is sent to the candidate for acceptance. The Dean is the only individual allowed to extend job offers.
