The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is creating the first public, green roof space on campus between the School of Nursing, Learning Resources Center (LRC), and Webb Building. As students return to campus, all the behind-the-scenes work to green the area will be visible. This project is slated to be completed in late spring. When the project is complete, students, faculty, staff, alumni, and guests will be able to enjoy outdoor seating, planters filled with plants and flowers, new lighting, and an enhanced LRC entrance. The main LRC entrance (on the plaza level) will be closed for most of the spring semester. Patrons are asked to enter and exit the LRC through the first floor or street level doors by the Ryals/9th Avenue parking deck or the rear door near 9th Avenue. Additionally, portions of the plaza between the LRC, School of Nursing, and Webb Building and School of Nursing first floor corridor (near the Center for Nursing Research) will periodically be closed. When traveling in these areas please be careful and watch for signs indicating alternative entry and exit points, closings, and detours. |
