Creating reliable exams

The University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Nursing is hosting a mini-conference on “Building Skills for Item Writing and Test Analysis” Friday, October 27, 9:30 a.m. to 2:45 p.m., in the School’s Learning Resource Center (LRC), Room 104.

Assistant Professor Nancy Wingo, PhD, MA, and BSN Program Director and Instructor Connie Hataway, PhD, RN, CNE, are presenting at the event, which is designed to increase the expertise of nurse educators in writing valid and reliable exam questions through item construction and test analysis using multiple best practices techniques. Attendees are asked to prepare five multiple choice test questions in advance for use during interactive learning activities.

The mini-conference is open to all nurse educators, but space is limited so early registration is encouraged. The registration fee is $150, and includes a boxed lunch and parking.

Continuing education credits are being offered and attendees are asked to bring their ABON CE card to swipe at the end of the day.
