PhD candidate Natalie Wilson receives JANAC Article of the Year award

Kempf MenteeUniversity of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) School of Nursing PhD Candidate Natalie Wilson, DNP, APRN-BC, MPH, AAHIVS, has received the Article of the Year award from the Journal of the Association of Nurses in Aids Care (JANAC) for her co-authored publication. Wilson’s mentor is Associate Professor Mirjam-Colette Kempf, PhD, MPH.

Wilson’s paper, “Connecting the Dots: Could Microbial Translocation Explain Commonly Reported Symptoms in HIV Disease?” presents a conceptual framework and rationale to investigate the link between microbial translocation and symptoms in patients with HIV.

In recognition of the honor Wilson will receive a cash prize as well as waived conference and accommodation fees to the annual conference of the Association of Nurses in AIDS care (ANAC) Chicago, Ill., on Oct. 29-31, where there also will be an awards ceremony. Wilson earned her DNP from the UAB School of Nursing in 2011.
