The UAB Department of Occupational Health & Safety's mission is to ensure that our customers have a safe workplace by providing them with the service and knowledge necessary to protect themselves, the UAB community, and the environment.
The UAB Occupational Health and Safety Department, in partnership with the UAB Student Activities Council, will be holding a Health and Safety Fair on Campus during the week of Homecoming.

A Fire Safety Demonstration involving the burning of full-scale models of residence hall rooms will follow the Homecoming Parade on the lawn of Rast Hall (off 10th Ave, between 14th & 15th Street, across from the UAB Campus Green).

There will be free food and drinks, music, free T-shirts, giveaways, Campus Rec Center boot camp, hula hooping, as well as health and safety displays and presentations. logoSeptember is National Preparedness Month. We want to encourage you to make a plan with your community, your family, and for your pets.

Plan how to stay safe and communicate during the disasters that can affect your community. 

Participate in America’s PrepareAthon! and the national day of action, National PrepareAthon! Day, which culminates National Preparedness Month on September 30.

The Department of Occupational Health and Safety at UAB is hosting the 2015 Alabama College and University Safety Professionals Conference this year on August 12th.

The conference is an annual event providing an opportunity for environmental, health, safety, emergency and risk management professionals at public and private institutions of higher education across the state to get together and discuss issues of common interest and concern.
