Pre-requisite: BIO300 Bloodborne Pathogens
Only those who have taken BIO300 Bloodborne Pathogens Initial Training are eligible to take this course.
Who is Required to Take This Course?
If you are a University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) employee with the potential for exposure to bloodborne pathogens in your workplace environment and you have already taken BIO300 Bloodborne Pathogens (initial training), you must update that training in 2013 by completing the BIO313 Bloodborne Pathogens 2013 Update course. Each year there will be an annual update.About This Course
If you have not taken BIO300, complete it. You will not be required to complete BIO313 this year. You will be required to complete the update course in 2014 and annually thereafter.
This continuing education online course is required for all employees who would come in contact with human blood, body fluids and other potentially infectious material in the work environment.
This course is considered continuing education in the area of bloodborne pathogens for 2013. Other courses (BIO300, BIO311, and BIO312) will NOT be accepted as a substitute for this course.
The purpose of the BIO313: Bloodborne Pathogen 2013 Update course is to:
- Review the key points of the Bloodborne Pathogen Standard
- Define OPIM and other infectious materials and give examples
- Explain how to properly clean up a bloodborne pathogen spill
