Biological Risk Assessments seek to determine the risks associated with work involving infectious agents, potentially infectious agents, or sample that could harbor such agents. This is to ensure that the UAB research community is aware of and compliant with Biosafety in Microbiological and Biomedical Laboratories (BMBL), but more importantly, to convey the best practices for the safe conduct of research in biological labs.

This course will provide information on performing a detailed biological risk assessment, defining biosafety levels, and implementation of biological containment. This course is strongly recommended for all laboratory personnel who work in biological research laboratories at UAB. Completion of this course is necessary one time; however, if there are significant changes in regulations, it will have to be repeated.

A BlazerID or XIAS account is required to register for and take the course.
