Dean's Community Advisory Committee
The Dean's Community Advisory Committee will consist of corporate and civic leaders from across the state and nation who have been invited by the Dean to act as an advocate for the enhancement of the profession of optometry to the community. This committee will offer advice to the Dean on corporate and civic matters. Further, the mission of this committee will be to convey to the citizens of the State of Alabama the educational and economic impact that the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Optometry has made and will continue to make on Alabama and the nation. In order for the School to maintain its measure of excellence, the Committee members may also advise the Dean on prospective donors, and assist him in raising funds for the School by making personal gifts as well as seeking additional funding sources from individuals, corporations, and foundations. This Committee will meet with the Dean twice a year, once in the fall and once in the spring, and will be kept informed of events within the School on a regular basis.
