Personal:

Dr. Gordon is from Baltimore and was the first student to graduate from UAB with the combined O.D. /M/P/H. degree. In addition to teaching optics courses, Dr. Gordon is an attending faculty instructor at UAB Eye Care in the Cornea and Contact Lens Service and Primary Eye Care Service. He also sees private patients at the University Optometric Group.

Professional memberships include the: Birmingham Area Optometric Society; Alabama Optometric Association; American Optometric Association; American Academy of Optometry; and the American Public Health Association.

Dr. Gordon is a consultant to the National Board of Examiners in Optometry in the area of Optics and Refractive Conditions. He previously served as Co-Chair of the Optics and Refractive Conditions Committee and has served on the Clinical Science Council.

Teaching:
OPT 112, Geometric Optics: introduction to optical systems including lenses, prisms, and mirrors.

OPT 132, Clinical Ophthalmic Optics: introduction to clinical aspects of lenses, including basic measurement and dispensing techniques.

OPT 232, Opthalmic Materials: Clinical aspects of progressive addition lenses, coatings, and absorptive lens options.

CLN Cornea and Contact Lens Service: patient care using all available contact lens technology; managing patients with corneal and external ocular diseases.

Research:
My research interests are corneal and ocular surface diseases and contact lens technology.
