Personal:

Dr. Laurent is originally from Wisconsin and has practiced optometry in private practice, the U.S. Army, the U.S. Navy, and with Schaeffer Eye Center in Birmingham, Alabama.  He worked as a research scientist at the Naval Aerospace Medical Research Laboratory in Pensacola, FL, and served for four years as the Research Director for the Navy Refractive Surgery Center in San Diego, CA.  He is a Fellow of the American Academy of Optometry.  Dr. Laurent’s wife, Becky, practices law part-time in a Birmingham law firm.
