Course Requirements: Two essay take home exams, each worth 35%. The other 30% is based on class attendance. Course is pass/fail; you must do both exams to pass. Late exams penalized 1 grade per 24 hours. An average of 75 is passing. Readings will be passed out in class.

September 9 Definition, cases, causes, and extent of research misconduct; small group cases

September 16 Policy and procedures for handling research misconduct; responsible authorship; small group cases

September 23 Research misconduct other than overt fabrication, falsification and plagiarism; small group cases; take home exam passed out

September 30 Take home due

October 14th Exams returned and discussed; publication practices, mentoring, and collaborative science

October 21 Data issues: recording, ownership, sharing; conflict of interest

November 4 Human subject research

November 11 Animals in research; take home passed out

November 18 Second exam due
