The superlative properties of diamond can be exploited at the nanoscale to create highly wear-resistant coatings for implants and to create biocompatible fluorescent probes based on point defects. “Artificial antibody” biosensors are developed from imprinted polymers and deposited along with fluorescent nanodiamond using scanning probe lithography.
