The Police Headquarters Communications Center is the heart of the department’s radio and telephone communications system. The center is staffed twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week. Dispatchers monitor all burglar, fire, and emergency alarms that are connected to the UAB community. The Communication Unit receives all incoming calls for service and information to the department over telephone lines, then dispatches officers to the required service area.

The unit supervisor, Tommie L. Reese, reports to the Office of Professional Standards Division Commander,  Captain Zandral N. Washington.
