CITIZEN'S POLICE ACADEMY

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to be a police officer? The UAB Police Department is offering the CITIZEN'S POLICE ACADEMY to members of the UAB community (participants must be affiliated with UAB). This program is designed to give an in-depth look at what it takes to be a police officer, the day-to-day functions of an officer and a department, and the current issues surrounding the provision of law enforcement to a community.

Class 99-01 listens to a lecture on police efforts.

Classes range from simulated police calls, investigative techniques, Rape Aggression Defense classes, to understanding the roles of a police officer in today's world. Guest speakers and other police trainers provide instruction for the participants. Courses are a combination of lecture, hands-on participation, tours of certain facilities and simulated events. Participants must be 18 years of age or older and applications are on first come, first served basis. Class size is limited and preregistration is required.
