HOW TO MAKE A COMPLAINT TO THE DEPARTMENT


To make a complaint concerning a UAB Police employee, you may contact the Chief's office at (205) 934-2297.    Information will be taken and forwarded to the appropriate person charged with the responsibility for conducting a thorough, objective and expeditious investigation of the allegations, to ascertain the truth.  Verbal or anonymous complaints are investigated, but may cause the matter to be more difficult to process.   At the conclusion of the investigation, the Chief of Police will review the investigator's report and notify the complainant, in writing, of the final results and what action, if any, was taken.

The Commission For Accreditation For Law Enforcement Agencies (CALEA) has set requirements and standards to be met by those agencies who hold National Accreditation under the auspices of CALEA. This information is provided to comply with the CALEA standard 52.1.12 that provides provisions for the public's right to know about actions taken against members of an Accredited Agency. The UAB Police Department provides this information as proof of compliance with these standards and for the served communities right-to-know.
