Organization and activity is the responsibility of the campus watch group. Guidance will be given by the UAB Police Department, but interest and activity must be generated by the employees, staff and students. "Campus Watch" is intended to help reduce campus crime by acting as a deterrent to those who are about to commit a crime. The employees, staff and students are responsible for the success of the group. We, the members of the UAB Campus Watch Program, recognize that crime prevention involves the anticipation, recognition, and appraisal of a crime risk.
A concentrated, cooperative effort by the UAB community is essential to help eliminate or reduce crime on campus. CAMPUS WATCH is the people of UAB looking out for each other. We as individuals and as members of this academic community can no longer afford to pay the staggering price of crime. The personal and economic costs are too high. The victims of crime are forever changed in the way they feel about themselves and their society. You, as a CAMPUS WATCHER, have the opportunity to contribute something positive to our community. Through your involvement in crime prevention, each and every one of you can help make our campus not only safer, but a better place to live, work and study. Through community involvement in crime prevention efforts, each and every member of the UAB can help make the University of Alabama at Birmingham a safe friendly environment conducive to learning, work, study and living. Together we can make a difference.
