Reporting Crimes Confidentially

Policy and Procedures allowing victims or witnesses to report crimes on a voluntary, confidential basis for inclusion in the annual disclosure of criminal statistics:

The UAB Police Department, in serving the best interests of the entire UAB community requests that all crimes be reported by victims and witnesses with full regard to protecting the personal right to confidentiality of the victim or the witness. Though, in interests of the community, who could be further affected by the crime, or the report of the crime, the media, whose assistance in communicating the crime to other community members, would have access to the report, the names, addresses, and phone numbers of the victim and witnesses would be kept confidential to protect the best interests of the victim or the witness when the report was utilized for public information and statistical reporting.
