The Employment Division works with department managers and search committees to ensure that the best employment decisions are made when filling job vacancies. Throughout this partnership, the Employment Division communicates and provides assistance to the department managers and search committees in following HR policies and federal and state regulations.

As an employer and a recipient of federal grants and contracts, the University of Alabama at Birmingham considers the rights of all job applicants, evaluates carefully the candidates for employment, and follows approved hiring procedures. University Employment and Hospital Employment are responsible for (1) completing the final review of, and granting approval of the hiring of all “regular status” non-faculty staff and (2) assisting department managers with extending offers of employment to candidates selected for employment.

Upon final approval and notification of hire by University Employment or Hospital Employment, a new employee may begin their employment at UAB.
