Policy 314 – Employee Discounts

All full-time and part-time regular employees are eligible for certain discounts within the University upon presentation of a valid UAB ID badge.

1. Hospital Discounts. Employees are eligible for the following courtesy allowances for both inpatient and outpatient services.
   1. With one of the UAB group health insurance plans, a discount of 25% of the balance not covered by insurance, and
   2. Without coverage, 25% of the balance that would have remained if the employee had been covered by one of the UAB group health insurance plans. The 25% is not allowed on elective services, including elective plastic surgery. UAB Hospital waives the deductible for admissions of UAB employees and dependents enrolled in UAB health insurance
2. Pharmacy Discounts. Cash non- insurance prescriptions are filled at a 10% discount at Kirklin Pharmacy from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
3. Cafeteria Discounts. 15% discounts are available at UAB Hospital Cafeteria as well as Spain Rehabilitation Cafeteria.
4. Athletic Events. Discounts are available for UAB Football and Basketball. The B-Ticket which gives UAB employees flexibility in purchasing tickets for athletic events is also available. For information and order forms, contact the Athletic Department Ticket Office.
5. Alys Stephens Center. Discounts on season packages only are available to UAB employees.
