Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management (BTAM)
UAB and UAB Health System are committed to maintaining a safe, secure and healthy campus environment for all students, employees and visitors. To that end, we have worked campus-wide over the past few months to establish the UAB and UAB Health System Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management Team (BTAM).
This program, based on national best practices, uses a structured process to proactively evaluate and manage behavioral threats to the safety and well-being of members of the campus community. The highly qualified BTAM team will assess threats, mitigate dangers and, once mitigated, process the threats through appropriate channels.
Last November we appointed the 20 members of the BTAM team, which is led by Andy Marsch, Assistant Vice President for Student Experience, and James Erwin, Associate Director of University Risk Management. The members are a cross-section of those areas most likely to be called upon in a crisis.
We thank these team members and our colleagues all across campus who worked diligently to form and implement BTAM. Teams will be visiting units across campus to answer any questions you may have. In the meantime, please visit the BTAM website for further information and FAQs.
Thank you for all you continue to do to make our campus such an outstanding place to work, study and excel.
