Dr. Mobley directs the MSP-SF. He provides consultation on new projects to help guide each experimental design, while also explaining the results following data analysis and interpretation. He also ensures that the shared facility provides cutting edge mass spectrometry and proteomics support for pilot and extramurally supported projects for Cancer Center members. Through close consultation with the MS/ Proteomics oversight committee, he manages the utilization of space, instrumentation, and expertise to meet the current needs of the facility, while also keeping up with technological advances necessary for future needs. He interacts with all facility personnel on a daily bases to ensure optimal facility operations, and consistent production of the highest-quality data, services, and analyses.

The director is responsible for keeping up with weekly staff meetings to go over the status of active accounts, while meeting with facility users to discuss standard and non-standard sample preparations, mass spectrometry approaches, and new applications in the recent literature. A biweekly meeting is scheduled with the lab manager to review administration updates and the current budget. Dr. Mobley is directly responsible for the development of educational and training materials germane to the goals of the shared facility made available to the CCC community, and for aiding in the writing of grants and manuscripts, in addition to progress reports. Dr. Mobley also participates in and oversees all quantitative, statistical, and systems analysis of clinical/ translational proteomics datasets, while working closely with key personnel within the CCC Biostatistics and Bioinformatics Shared within the Division of Preventative Medicine, where Dr. Mobley holds a secondary appointment.
