Storage of 2D or 1D gels and samples
Once samples have been run on gels, any remaining samples (in denaturing buffer) will be stored in our -80oC freezer, for 2 months after final data has been posted on the LIMS and discussed with the investigators. Investigators will be encouraged to either take back the leftover samples, or let us destroy them, to make room for new ones. Emails following the final analysis will remind investigators; after two months, the samples will be discarded.
Similarly, once 1D and 2D gel images have been acquired, analyzed, and the gels "picked" for appropriate spots, the gels will be stored in TMPL for two months, after which investigators will be asked to store their own gels, or let us discard them.
While all gel images will be maintained on the LIMS, investigators will be strongly encouraged to store copies of all gel images on their own computers or storage devices.
