President Carol Z. Garrison has named a search committee for the provost position.

Chair is Dr. Dick Marchase, vice president for research and economic development. Members are Dr. John Chatham, professor/director of the division of molecular and cellular pathology, department of pathology, and chair of the Faculty Senate; Dr. Tom DiLorenzo, dean of the College of Arts and Sciences; Dr. Jose Fernandez, associate professor of nutrition sciences; Dr. Brent Gage, associate provost for enrollment management; Dr. Wendy Gunther-Canada, professor and chair of government, and chair of the Commission on the Status of Women; Dr. Eric Jack, associate dean of business; Dr. Teena McGuinness, professor of nursing; Ms. Latoya O’Neal, president, Black Graduate Student Association; Mr. Bradley Watts, president, Undergraduate Student Association; Dr. Ray Watts, senior vice president and dean of the School of Medicine; and Ms. Alesia Jones, chief human resources officer, ex-officio.

Dr. Linda Lucas is serving as interim provost following the departure of Dr. Eli Capilouto.

Garrison indicated the committee would begin its work in the coming weeks with the goal of finding “the very best candidate in a thorough national search.

“This will be an inclusive process with opportunities for the campus community to participate and provide feedback,” she said. “I expect we will have very strong internal and external candidates and that we will have the successful candidate in place to begin the next academic year.”
