Dr. Elizabeth Fisher joined UAB’s Division of eLearning and Professional Studies in January 2014 as the Director of Academic Outreach. She joined UAB in the summer of 2009, ultimately serving as the Director of Online Learning for the Collat School of Business. In this position, she worked with faculty and administration to design a strategic approach to online course design, development, and delivery and quality assurance. Before joining UAB, she served in the University of Alabama's (UA) College of Continuing Studies, first as an instructional designer, then as an administrator managing the instructional design team responsible for developing and maintaining over 45 online programs and hundreds of online courses. Dr. Fisher holds a B. S. in Elementary Education from UAB, an M. A. in Higher Education Administration and PhD in Instructional Leadership/Technology from UA. She holds certification as a Quality Matters Peer Reviewer and serves as one of UAB’s Quality Matters’ Institutional Representatives. Additionally, she is the founding president of the UAB Instructional Designer’s Consortium. Her expertise is in usability, instructional design, teaching and best practices in online pedagogy.
