Fourth provost candidate to make public presentation May 5

Four candidates for the position of senior vice president of Academic Affairs and provost will make public presentations between April 21 and May 5. Each presentation will be held 9-10 a.m. in Volker Hall Lecture Room A and also streamed live.
Jalali INSIDEChaden Djalali, dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at University of Iowa

Chaden Djalali, dean of the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences at University of Iowa, will be the final of four candidates to interview, and he will present May 5. Djalali, who earned his doctorate in physics from Institut de Physique Nucléaire in Paris, is an accomplished researcher, teacher and administrator who maintains an active research program in intermediate energy nuclear physics and hadronic physics. In his current role, he provides educational leadership for the college's teaching and research missions, promotes the academic quality and welfare of the faculty and students and directs strategic planning processes and budgeting. benoit pam INSIDEPam Benoit, executive vice president and provost at Ohio University  Pam Benoit, executive vice president and provost at Ohio University, will be the third candidate to interview, and she will present May 2. Benoit, who earned her doctorate in communication from Wayne State University, has been widely recognized for her teaching and research on communication theory, narratives, persuasion, argumentation and leadership. In her current role, she is responsible for budgetary and strategic planning, implementing and advancing the university’s academic plan, overseeing enrollment management and student success, enhancing academic research, scholarship and creative activity and diversity in addition to supporting fundraising, Title IX, capital planning and technology. Justice INSIDEGeorge Justice, Ph.D., dean of Humanities of the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and associate vice president for Knowledge Enterprise Development at Arizona State University  George Justice, Ph.D., dean of Humanities in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and associate vice president for Knowledge Enterprise Development at Arizona State University, will be the second candidate to interview, and he presented April 28. Justice, who earned his doctorate in English from University of Pennsylvania, is a specialist in eighteenth-century British literature and the author and editor of scholarship on the literary marketplace, authorship and women's writing. Justice previously taught at the University of Pennsylvania, Marquette University, Louisiana State University and the University of Missouri, where he also was vice provost for advanced studies and dean of the Graduate School. michael reddy INSIDEMichael Reddy, DMD, dean of the School of Dentistry  Michael Reddy, DMD, dean of the School of Dentistry, the first candidate, presented April 21. Reddy, who earned his doctorates in Dentistry and Oral Biology from the Harvard University School of Dental Medicine, is a senior scientist in multiple UAB research centers whose research examines interrelationships between oral infections and overall health and regenerative medicine approaches in the oral cavity. He has had continuous NIH funding for the past 20 years and more than 40 grants awarded as an investigator or co-investigator. See the video of his presentation online.
