The NIH ESTEEM Study may work for you. ESTEEM is a National Institutes of Health (NIH) study evaluating whether combining surgery and pelvic exercises works better for Mixed Urinary Incontinence (MUI) compared to surgery alone. Losing control of your bowels? The LIBERATE study may be right for you! Twenty million American women of all ages suffer from fecal incontinence, also known as Accidental Bowel Leakage (ABL), and we rarely talk about it. UAB is conducting a research study on a treatment for women with bowel control problems. Study participation may last approximately 15 months. You may be eligible to participate if you experience loss of bowel control, are female age 19 or older and have a history of accidental bowel leakage for at least 6 months.
