The UAB Department of Nutrition Sciences is conducting a 60-week study to evaluate the effectiveness of an investigational drug to treat Type 2 DM and obesity. To qualify, you must be age 18 or older, have Type 2 diabetes, and taking insulin or insulin in combination with zero, one, or two oral anti-diabetic medications. Qualified participants will receive study drug, diet/exercise counseling, EKG, physical exam, and diabetic supplies. To participate, you must be willing to take a daily injection and adopt a reduced-calorie diet and exercise program of 100-250 minutes/week. There is no charge for participation. Overweight/obese adolescents ages 15-17 with an iPhone or Android phone who sleep less than an average of 8 hours per night and their parent wanted for a study of the effects of sleep on adolescents’ overall health. Requires 8 visits to UAB laboratory and 3 blood draws over a 4 month period.
