UAB partners with UK university to offer smart cities master’s degree

smart cities mastersClasses will begin in January 2016 for a unique master’s program delivered wholly online by experienced faculty from UAB and Staffordshire University in the UK.

This 24-month, part-time postgraduate degree will provide interdisciplinary grounding in the principles, application and key technologies required to develop sustainable smart cities.

Why offer this?

Cities, which are the engines of economic growth, innovation, education and culture, also are home to concentrations of poverty, social exclusion and environmental degradation. Conversely, cities can be the engines of sustainable development and adapt into smart, intelligent and sustainable environments using digital technologies, big data, low-energy buildings and neighborhoods, renewable energy and smart mobility.
