James McClintock, Ph.D., Endowed University Professor of Polar and Marine Biology, will be leading his sixth annual UAB Antarctica Cruise this year; it is scheduled to depart from Ushuaia, Argentina, Dec. 10 and return Dec. 23.
Travelers will have the opportunity to witness magnificent landscapes, pristine glaciers and an abundance of marine animals and bird life. Travel will be with Abercrombie & Kent aboard the Le Boreal. Expert lectures and unique shore excursions with expedition staff will be provided in Zodiacs, and this cruise also will include a unique opportunity to visit the U.S. Palmer Station, where McClintock will provide guests with his UAB group a personal tour.
McClintock is a world-recognized authority on Antarctic marine biology with more than 30 years of active research in polar marine biology. He has published over 225 scientific papers and his recent popular book Lost Antarctica – Adventures in a Disappearing World has received national acclaim.
