School of Nursing Dean Doreen C. Harper, Ph.D., has been named a Legend in White by the Birmingham Black Nurses Association. Harper was honored at the 2013 Legends in White Gala in November.
Each year, the association honors nursing leaders who have made a vast impact in their field. The organization lauded Harper's leadership at UAB and celebrated her emphasis on diversity.
The Black Nurses Association works to represent and provide a forum for black nurses to advocate for and implement strategies to ensure access to the highest quality of health care for persons of color.
