International leadership coach and author Julia Tang Peters will direct a leadership development workshop for UAB employees 3:30- 5 p.m. March 20 in the Hill Student Center Alumni Theater.

In her presentation, “Leadership Challenge: Who is the most difficult person to hold accountable?” Peters will examine the role of accountability in the daily functioning of an organization and share her experiences helping leaders change accountability from a problem to an opportunity. Breakout groups will explore the practical steps needed to build a culture of accountability.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring leadership expert Julia Tang Peters to campus to talk with leaders across campus about where we are now and how we can get better at holding ourselves and others accountable,” said Organizational Development Manager Emily Wykle.

Accountability is a topic of interest for many UAB leaders, Wykle said — “specifically how we can make accountability a part of our culture, at all levels of the organization.”

Participants will receive a copy of Peters’ book, “Pivot Points: Five Decisions Every Successful Leader Must Make.”

This is the second in Learning & Development’s ongoing series of events to mark the 10th anniversary of Blaze Leadership Academy, a selective program that prepares prepares high-potential faculty and staff to take on positions of senior leadership and become the stewards of UAB’s future. The series will host events throughout the academic year.
