Directions & Parking Information
Located
on the UAB campus in downtown Birmingham, the
Reynolds Historical Library is on the 3rd floor of Lister Hill Library
of the Health Sciences, 1700 University Blvd (8th Ave S).

Note: In downtown Birmingham "Streets" run north/south and "Avenues" east/west. All street and avenue names in the southern part of the city, where UAB is located, are followed by the indicator "S", e.g. 18th St S or 8th Ave S.
From the South:
Take I-65 North to the 8th Ave South exit (Exit # 259). 8th Ave S becomes University Blvd. The Library will be on the left between 14th and 18th St S.
From the North (including those coming from I-20/I-59):
Take I-65 South to the 4th Ave South exit (Exit # 259-B). At 14th St S turn right. At University Blvd (8th Ave S) turn left. The library will be on the left before you reach the next signal.
From the East & West:
Take I-20/I-59 or any other route to I-65. From there, follow one of the routes described above.
Parking
Parking spaces are at a premium at UAB. You can try your luck in front of the library, where there are five metered parking spaces available. However, the short time limit (30 minutes) often makes this option impractical. Other parking options are listed below. In general, expect to walk two to four blocks from your space to the library.
1)
UAB
Public Parking Deck #3 on the southeast corner of University Blvd (8th
Ave S) and 19th St S. Enter the deck from University Blvd.
3) Metered street parking along 18th St S between University Blvd (8th Ave S) and 10th Ave S. There is also metered parking behind the library on 7th Ave S, but these spaces are difficult to get during weekdays.
4)
For those who don't mind driving around and perhaps walking a little farther,
you can usually find free street parking south of University Blvd (8th
Ave S) on one of the streets between and including 17th St S and 15th
St S (especially between 10th Ave S and 12th Ave S).
