The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) is accepting applications for a 12 month senior faculty position in the Surgical Physician Assistant Program, School of Health Professions (SHP) due to a recent retirement. SHP is one of our nation’s largest and most diverse schools of its type with more than twenty programs at the baccalaureate, masters, and doctoral levels. Faculty rank and tenure status are commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Primary responsibilities include didactic instruction, scholarly activity, community service, student advising, and administration. The Surgical PA Program faculty consists of an energetic, cohesive group of eight individuals and the program has an excellent relationship with the UAB medical school and surrounding medical community. UAB is currently ranked as one of the premier medical schools and research institutions in the country.
Ideal candidates would possess experience in grant writing, publications in peer review journals, and national presentations. Minimum requirements include graduation from an accredited physician assistant program, current NCCPA certification, eligibility for licensure in the state of Alabama, possession of a master’s degree in a related discipline (doctorate preferred), and at least seven to ten years of combined clinical practice and teaching experience. The successful candidate without a doctoral degree will be expected to obtain the degree within the timeline specified. Salary, academic rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
