|Michelle Brown is an Assistant Professor and Clinical Education Coordinator for the UAB Clinical Laboratory Science Program. She was in clinical practice in the UAB Transfusion Service for 10 year prior to joining the School of Health Professions. In her 10 years in the clinical setting, Michelle enjoyed working in the Transfusion Service as a Medical Technologist, Supervisor, Therapeutic Apheresis Specialist, and Quality Coordinator. She also played an active role in the education of residents, nurses, and perfusionists in the intricacies of transfusion therapy for various patient populations. She has extensive knowledge and experience in transfusion medicine which allows her to educate a wide variety of practitioners in immunohematology and transfusion therapy.
Ms. Brown received her Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology from Auburn University and completed a clinical internship at St. Vincent’s Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida. She received a Master of Science degree from UAB in Clinical Laboratory Science where she concentrated in Immunohematology and Transfusion Medicine. She is among an elite group of practitioners who hold a Specialist in Blood Bank certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathology.
