  Christina Barger Hurst, MS, CGC, is the assistant program director for the UAB genetic counseling program at UAB. She was in clinical practice at UAB’s Department of Genetics for 4 years prior to joining the School of Health Professions in 2010. She has clinical experience in pediatrics, prenatal, and a variety of specialty clinics. She also has experience as a study coordinator caring for patients on clinical trials and experience with study development, implementation, design, and regulatory management. She serves as the chair of the Department of Genetics’ internal IRB committee.

Mrs. Hurst received her undergraduate Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology from Furman University (2004) and her Master of Science degree in genetic counseling from the University of South Carolina (2006). She is an active member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and the Association of Genetic Counseling Program Directors.
