Respiratory Therapy

The Respiratory Therapy program will no longer be accepting applications for the B.S. degree in Respiratory Therapy.

Because of growth in the middle-aged and elderly populations this is one of the fastest growing occupations in the U.S. Your B.S. degree from UAB will provide you a distinct edge over others in your field.

Respiratory therapists treat people suffering from asthma, chronic bronchitis, emphysema and more. You will treat patients with cystic fibrosis and sleep apnea. You will be trained to respond to people suffering from heart attacks or suffering a stroke.

At UAB, thanks to innovative and interactive curriculum, you will learn to perform diagnostic tests, administer treatments, record progress and consult with physicians and surgeons.

The UAB Respiratory Therapy Program is a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) program currently accredited by the COARC (Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care).
