1. Provide analysis of hormones, adipokines, markers of inflammation, glucose, and lipids for both clinical and animal studies, and from both biological fluids and tissue culture specimens
  2. Provide direct assessment of human body composition and body fat distribution, including intramyocellular and hepatic lipid using magnetic resonance spectroscopy
  3. Provide direct assessment of human insulin sensitivity, secretion, and clearance; in vivo glucose metabolism; and in vivo protein metabolism
  4. Provide assessment of human total, resting, and activity-related energy expenditure and substrate utilization
  5. Provide assessment of cardiovascular function, including endothelial function/vascular reactivity, arterial compliance, thoracic impedance, and ambulatory blood pressure
  6. Promote multidisciplinary collaborations and research training for students, fellows, and investigators
