Support SHP Jr. Advisory Board Event April 18

SHP-Jr-Bd-2013 lowRemember when you graduated from UAB? You finally made it through your exams and you made your parents proud by getting a job. Then it hits you, added expenses right after graduation that includes everything from buying professional attire to paying for certification exams and so on. Wouldn’t it have been great if someone had offered a scholarship to help pay for those professional development expenses? Now there is.

The UAB School of Health Professions Junior Advisory Board is creating a scholarship to fill the “gap” for our soon-to-be alumni as they transition from school to the real world, and you can help. Join us for a scholarship kick-off event for a night of food, fun and fundraising at, "Bridging the Gap to Cover the Map," on Thursday, April 18 from 6-9 p.m. at Innovation Depot, 1500 1st Ave. N.

With your $20 suggested donation (we'll gladly accept more), you can help a future alumni enter the professional life without some of the added costs of the real world. At the same time, reconnect or make new alumni friends. Door prizes will be given out at every hour.

As the first kick-off event for their scholarship fundraiser, the SHP Jr. Board's first year goal is to raise $3,000; however, funds can't be awarded until the scholarship reaches the minimum $10,000 endowment level (all gifts are tax-deductible).

To make a donation at the event, you can bring cash, check (payable to "UAB SHP Jr. Board Scholarship") or make an online donation with one of our laptops. For catering purposes, be sure to RSVP by April 12 to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. .

Can't make it but want to make a contribution?

Please give online or mail your check (payable to "UAB SHP Jr. Board Scholarship"):
