Since several School of Health Professions students work with the public, research or testing, there are certain forms and immuniziations you are required to have before joining our program. The UAB Student Health Service website, as well as below, has a list of forms including:
Clinical Students: Biotechnology, Clinical Laboratory Sciences, Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics, Cytotechnology, Genetic Counseling, Medical Technology, Nuclear Medicine Technology, Nurse Anesthesia, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, Physician Assistant Studies, Respiratory Therapy.
Non-Clinical Students: students enrolled in all other programs.
Every attempt is made to provide appropriate instruction in the utilization of universal and transmission precautions and exposure control procedures. Specific requirements vary according to the curricula of each academic program. Students are expected to comply with the standards set by the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) (29.CFR Part 1910.1030), the Centers for Disease Control Guidelines for Preventing the Transmission of Tuberculosis, and the SHP program policies and procedures. The SHP Exposure Control Plan applies to all students, faculty, and staff in SHP. The UAB Biosafety Manual applies to all students, faculty and staff in SHP.
