NMT student named Charles Barkley Health Disparities Award

Van Dyke MiriamNuclear Medicine Technology student Miriam Van Dyke was one of six researchers named to the 2013 Charles Barkley Health Disparities Investigators Awards. Van Dyke, Bill Gates Millennium scholar, poster presentation was for "Rare Histologic Subtypes, Race, and Survival in the UAB Breast Consortium Study."

The researchers, who received the honors at the annual UAB Health Disparities Research Symposium, receive cash awards of $200 for first place, $150 for second and $100 for third from an endowment to UAB from the NBA Hall of Fame basketball player and Leeds native.

The symposium was sponsored by the UAB Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Center.
