Miriam Van Dyke won first place at UAB ExpoMiriam Van Dyke, Nuclear Medicine Technology student, won first place in her category at UAB Expo.SHP Honors swept the health sciences category no. two at the Fifth Annual UAB Expo: An Exposition of Undergraduate Scholarships on April 20, 2012. Out of the 126 presentations, SHP had 15 students’ present posters of their research.

Placing first was Miriam Van Dyke, a Nuclear Medicine Technology student, on “Survey of Radiological Emergency Preparedness: Nuclear Medicine Technologists (SREP: NMT).”

Emma Johnson, a Respiratory Therapy student, placed second with “Infectivity of M. Tuberculosis Genes mce 4C and D in Latent Tuberculosis.”

In third place was Ashley Glaze, also a Respiratory Therapy student, on “Mce4 A and B Mediate Mycobacterium Survival in Latent Tuberculosis.”

Honorable Mention was tied with Steven Milligan, a Medical Technology student, on “PEGylation Potentiates the Effect of GHK on Fibroblast Proliferation” and Holly Thrasher, also a Medical Technology student, on "Covalent Modifications of Melphalan on Neuroblastoma Cell Migration."
