The University of Alabama at Birmingham Occupational Therapy students and faculty are encouraging you to run or walk at the second annual 5K race on Sat., Feb. 23. The “Run or Walk with UAB OT” race will be held at Heardmont Park on Cahaba Valley Road with registration at 7:30 a.m. and the race beginning at 8:30 a.m.
Proceeds from the race will help in two areas: fund student projects to help various organizations and clients such as United Cerebral Palsy, Horizons School and AIDS Alabama and raise funds to send OT students to attend and/or present at that national American Occupational Therapy Association in April.
The cost for the race is $20 if you pre-register by Feb. 21 online at www.uabOT5k2013.webs.com. Participants can register on the morning of the race at 7:30 a.m. for $25. Race t-shirts are limited so preregistering will guarantee a shirt. Donations are also being accepted online for those not wanting to participate in the race but want to support the students. Awards will go to the top three overall male and female winners as well as top male and female in each age group.
