Faculty Positions, Doctor of Science in Administration-Health-Services
The University of Alabama at Birmingham’s (UAB) School of Health Professions (SHP) currently has two openings for full time, faculty positions in the Doctor of Science in Administration-Health Services Program, Department of Health Services Administration. SHP is one of our nation’s largest and most diverse schools of its type with more than twenty programs at the baccalaureate, masters and doctoral levels.The Doctor of Science Program is an initiative to provide advanced education for senior executives who desire more sophisticated analytical skills required to lead today’s complex healthcare systems. The program blends on campus instruction with action learning assignments in the executive’s organization. Successful applicants may also assume responsibilities in the nationally ranked M.S. in Health Administration Program, the M.S. in Health Informatics Program, and the residential Ph.D. Program. Among the many other assets of the Department are a highly involved and organized alumni base of nearly 1000 health care leaders at the Masters and Doctoral level; active participation by practitioner/teachers in the UAB Health System; a committed network of preceptors; and international involvement in healthcare management education programs. Department faculty engages in multi-disciplinary research programs with faculty from the Schools of Medicine, Nursing, Public Health, Engineering, and Natural Sciences and Mathematics. UAB is a Doctoral/Research Universities-Extensive institution with an international reputation in health care education and biomedical research.
Major responsibilities for these positions include classroom and distance instruction, participation in a focused research program, curriculum planning, and student mentorship. The ideal candidates should hold an earned doctorate with disciplinary preparation in an area related to health administration and should have teaching experience. Previous experience as a healthcare executive or in consulting for healthcare organizations is preferred. Salary, rank, and tenure status will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
