More than 60 undergraduate healthcare management faculty and program directors from 39 different universities and colleges throughout the United States and Canada will be coming to Birmingham on November 4-6, 2011. The University of Alabama at Birmingham will be the first college campus to host the Association of University Programs in Health Administration (AUPHA) Undergraduate Workshop.“UAB was selected because they have been a long-standing, very active AUPHA member program,” said Lucinda Flowers, director of meetings & events for AUPHA. “Given the collaborative nature of the workshop, holding the meeting on a member campus versus a hotel made sense, and it allows the attendees to see first-hand how another program operates.”
The hands-on workshop, held every other year, addresses a number of issues critical to the success of undergraduate healthcare management programs. Participants exchange ideas, share what’s working, and work together to develop solutions that address the unique needs and concerns facing undergraduate programs, faculty and students.
“We feel very honored to be selected as the first college campus to host this event,” said Pam Paustian, MSM, RHIA, director of the UAB Healthcare Management Program. “This will give us the opportunity to show this diverse group of faculty from across the country our wonderful facilities and demonstrate the advancements we have made in delivering traditional and online education.”
