UAB School of Health Professions, has been named to the Board of Directors for the Hope Health Center in Fairfield, Alabama.The center is a nonprofit medical clinic that is committed to promoting the physical, mental, and spiritual well-being of its patients.Jessica H. “I am beyond humbled and thrilled to support the work of Hope Health Center,” said Williams. “I look forward to working with Dr. Tom Edwards, Dr. Ben Davidson, the Hope Health Center staff, and the current board members in providing excellent health care to the community of Fairfield.”
The Hope Health Center goal “is to promote the wellbeing of the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, by offering access to a broad range of services.” The center offers primary medical care, dental services, nutrition and fitness classes and one-on-one counseling.
In addition to teaching in the UAB Health Care Management program, Williams is a long-time health services researcher who studies the health disparities among low-income African-American tobacco users and health disparities among older adults.
The Health Care Management program is housed in the UAB Department of Health Services Administration.
