Center for Health Organization Transformation - CHOTThe National Science Foundation has awarded a planning grant to the University of Alabama at Birmingham Schools of Health Professions and Engineering to establish a Center for Health Organization Transformation. The UAB CHOT, which recently held its first industry planning meeting at UAB, is collaboration between the Department of Health Services Administration and the Department of Civil, Construction, and Environmental Engineering.
The industry planning meeting held at UAB included representatives from companies such as Blue Cross Blue Shield of Alabama, the Lakeshore Foundation, Protective Life Corporation, Baptist Health System, Innovative Healthcare Consulting, Brasfield & Gorrie, LLC and many more.
The CHOT, originally located at Texas A&M Health Science Center, Georgia Institute of Technology, Northeastern University and Pennsylvania State University, is a growing network of universities and industry partners across the U.S. It relies on the knowledge and experience of healthcare leaders to conduct academic research that supports the implementation of evidence-based strategies in healthcare organizations.
