London, England.

 Join us as we learn how healthcare is organized, financed, and delivered in the world’s largest and oldest single-payer system.  The educational program will include a visit to Guys’ and St. Thomas’ Hospital, where Florence Nightingale founded her nursing school in 1859.  We will hear from leaders within both the public and private sectors of the British system and will tour a private facility in London’s famous Harley Street. 

Cost: $2250 single (add $435 for an additional person staying in the same room)

--Stay on for an optional two-day visit to Edinburgh, Scotland (additional cost of $800 single)

Cost includes: educational program, lodging for four nights at the Royal Society of Medicine, transportation to site visits, meals Sunday evening through Thursday morning. Airfare is not included.

Curitiba, Brazil.

We will hear from leaders at various levels of Brazil’s Sistema Único de Saude (SUS), the country’s decentralized national health system.  Lectures will be complemented by discussions with practitioners and visits to hospitals, primary care facilities, and state and city health departments.  Plans also include a discussion of the private health insurance system in Brazil, which includes the largest healthcare cooperative in the world.

Cost: $2000 single (add $350 for an additional person staying in the same room)

Cost includes: educational program, lodging for four nights, transportation to site visits, meals Sunday evening through Thursday morning. Airfare and the cost of a travel visa are not included.
