Dr. Teayoun Kim is a postdoctoral trainee in the Department of Nutrition Sciences. Dr. Kim earned his undergraduate degree from Gyeongsang National University in Jinju, South Korea; earned his master’s degree from the same institute in food science; and earned his Ph.D. in the Department of Biomedical Sciences at Auburn University in 2005. His doctoral dissertation was focused on the immune response in the mice lung and in the cattle against Chlamydia pneumoniae and Chlamydia abortus. He got his first postdoctoral training in the Department of Nutrition and Food Sciences at Auburn University. During his first postdoctoral training period, he studied the function of hepatic glycoprotein Fetuin-A in insulin signaling pathway and in diabetic animal models. He also studied curcumin, a bioactive compound of Curcuma longa. Currently he is working on the function of nuclear receptors in mouse skeletal muscle under the direction of Dr. Qinglin Yang.
