Focus of Research
Currently, both research projects are conducted in the Birmingham community at Alabama’s largest senior living center with 197 skilled nursing beds. The first is a funded pilot study investigating toileting disparities among Black nursing home residents based on a conceptual model of toileting disability. This mixed methods study explores toileting practices, preferences, attitudes, expectation and experiences of older women in subacute rehabilitation in order to generate meaningful and plausible factors contributing to toileting disability.
The second project focuses on interprofessional geriatric education. It is a survey study looking at the attitudes and perceptions of discipline roles of professional students following an interdisciplinary care plan training experience.
